Al started his BSc Hons project at Heriot-Watt with the group in 2020, focusing on the simulation of novel imaging methods that can be performed with a passive optical component used to multiplex multiple single-mode optical inputs into one multi-mode output (the “Photonic Lantern”).
Foregoing an MPhys Al decided to graduate with a 1st BSc Hons and a university award for academic excellence to start his PhD in the group a year early. His research focus is currently on achieving ultra-high resolution microendoscopic imaging for direct in-vivo pathogen identification purposes in biophotonics.
