Dr. Andrew Green Phi

Andrew obtained a 2.1 MPhys degree in Physics at Heriot Watt University in 2017.

He completed his PhD: “Pushing single photon array cameras to the limits: single molecule widefield lifetime imaging”. Using a SPAD array detector (SPCImager) he developed a robust imaging platform using the on-board counting electronics to perform rapid widefield Fluorescent Lifetime Imaging Microscopy. During this research he designed and developed a custom TIRF microscope to enable SPCImager to obtain images of individual Quantum dots and clusters of single molecules.

Andrew joined the group as an RA in February 2022, and with his experience of SPAD arrays, Andrew is now working with Dr. Mike Tanner in applications of time-resolved photon counting to medical spectroscopy, investigating photon transit through tissue, as well as fibre optic measurements and devices for internal / in-vivo investigation.
