David Guillaume MacLachlan joined the group as a PhD student in August 2011.
David studied Physics with Electronic Engineering at Heriot Watt University 2:1 MPhys degree.
He completed his PhD thesis: Development of photonic technologies for astronomical instruments using ultrafast laser inscription with the group, which included testing devices on-sky at the William Herschel Telescope in La Palma in using the CANARY adaptive optics system.
David is currently an RA with the group on an Innovate UK project in collaboration with Photon Force and Fraunhofer UK to create a fully integrated, fibre coupled single photon sensitive detector capable of time-resolved measurements suitable for new markets.
