In 2025, Gilbert graduated from Heriot-Watt university with an MEng degree in Robotics, Autonomous and Interactive Systems.
In October 2025, Gilbert joined the PHI group and began his PhD on the topic of Coherent Beam Combination of Diode Lasers for Future High-Power Laser Systems.
Current work is on investigating ultrafast laser micromachining for manufacturing robust alignment structures from fused silica.
